Severance (TV)
Mediums: Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Helly R./Mark S. (Severance)

I'd love to see Helly and Mark going deeper into the halls of Lumon, trying to solve the mystery of why they're there (or digging up more Eagan lore, meeting other departments...)
Works as
- case fic
- monster of the week type deal (there's SOMETHING out there in the halls... but what? Idk, horror movie style!)

Request 2 by onekisstotakewithme
The West Wing
Mediums: Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Danny Concannon/C. J. Cregg (The West Wing)

Danny is an investigative journalist, and it's CJ's job to Know things that the President needs her to know... but what happens when he's not telling her the whole truth?
CJ and Danny working out a case together would be cool

PH 9 (fic) - 巷説百物語 | Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari | Requiem from the Darkness (Anime), Nightmare - Cornell Woolrich (Novella), Father Brown (2013), Penny Dreadful (TV), XCOM (2012 Reboot Series)

Request 1 by psychomachia
巷説百物語 | Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari | Requiem from the Darkness (Anime)
Mediums: Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Yamaoka Momosuke & Mataichi & Ogin & Nagamimi (Requiem From The Darkness)

All right, this is probably one of the most obscure things I've ever asked for, but in short, it's the story of a writer in the Edo period named Momosuke who runs into three mysterious figures who call themselves the Ongyou that always seem to show up during horribly gruesome crimes. You'd think he'd be happy since he's wanting to shift from writing children's literature to ghost stories, but something about the constant downer endings of each case starts to weigh on him. Throw in a supernatural conspiracy and some truly creepy animation and it's a darkly beautiful horror anime with a bit of mystery to it.

[Availability note: the English dub is available on Amazon and has all 13 episodes for free with ads.]

DNWs: No animal harm, extreme underage, body fluids (blood is fine), focus on unrequested pairings involving nominated characters (mentions of past canon relationships are fine), permanent nominated character death (transformations/resurrections are fine).

Prompts:

So yeah, there's a lot of people getting murdered in this show, so hey, why not another one? Maybe it's an unseen case set during the period where they were travelling together that Momosuke didn't document for personal reasons. Canon's pretty dark so go as twisted as you want to here.

Or perhaps something set after canon? Maybe Momosuke gets caught up in another supernatural scheme, despite the Ongyou's best attempts to dissuade him from it, and the Ongyou have to solve the case before Momosuke takes the fall for it.

And speaking of post-canon, I have so many thoughts about a universe where Momosuke joins them as the fourth member of the Ongyou with his own abilities. Anything where the four of them are working together in tandem to bring someone to justice – think mind games, illusions, just using their abilities in complementary fashion.

Nightmare - Cornell Woolrich (Novella)
Mediums: Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Cliff Dodge/Vincent Hardy (Nightmare - Woolrich)

I ship the hell out of Vince and Cliff and the way Cliff just softens towards Vince, keeping him from losing either his mind or his life. It's one of those stories that easily could have had one of the typical grim endings from Woolrich, but because Vince trusts Cliff, listens to him, and keeps trying to unravel the mystery, he's rewarded at the end with a gruff, but caring, detective who's willing to strip his clothes off to save him. I mean, sure, Cliff is married to his sister, but by the end, the only person Cliff has eyes for is Vince and he spends more time in Vince's bedroom than he does in his own. What I'm saying is that Cliff and Vince are adorable together even with the murders and I want more of them solving mysteries and falling in love.

DNWs: No animal harm, extreme underage (15+ fine), body fluids (blood is fine), permanent nominated character death (transformations/resurrections are fine). No focus on unrequested pairings involving nominated characters; Cliff is canonically married to Vince's sister so I'd prefer that either they had an amicable separation before Cliff and Vince get together or that they were never together at all.

Prompts:

Maybe Cliff never married Vince's sister, but he gets this case about a couple of murders and the more he investigates it, the more he thinks there's something awfully fishy about it. Or maybe they're together from the beginning so when Vince starts getting these nightmares, Cliff's right on top of it to protect him and catch the killer right away.

It would be fun to see Cliff and Vince on a case where Vince isn't the one that needs help. Maybe Cliff needs someone that isn't on the force to lend him an unofficial hand, or maybe it's Cliff himself who's in trouble and it's Vince that has to figure out how to get him out of the mess.

Or you know, maybe neither one of them is directly in trouble and this is just a new weird case that pops up – Woolrich has a fondness for mixing mystery with the supernatural and I'd love anything that borders on it whether it's Cliff and Vince investigating an inexplicable death in an impossible location, or perhaps a disappearance that seemingly has no rational explanation.

Father Brown (2013)
Mediums: Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Father Brown/M. Hercule Flambeau (Father Brown)

I definitely fell in love with Chesterton's works a long time ago, particularly his Father Brown stories, and while I always loved Flambeau in the stories, I never really felt the need to ship the two of them together, despite all the slashy overtones. And then I watched the series... and kept watching... and specifically rewatched the Flambeau episodes and I was hooked. It's so clear in the show that Father Brown is just as invested in Flambeau as he is in him, and it's so much fun to just see Father Brown breaking the law just so Flambeau won't get caught, while Flambeau in return just can't stay away from the good priest, especially if he needs help. The ending of the latest episode with the two of them truly had me going, “okay, so you're both willing to give up everything to save the other one” and I can just soak that kind of thing up all day.

DNWs: No animal harm, extreme underage, body fluids (blood is fine), focus on unrequested pairings involving nominated characters (mentions of past canon relationships are fine), permanent nominated character death (transformations/resurrections are fine).

Prompts:

So I am fully caught up with the series, which means I am definitely into Flambeau using his thieving talents to steal shit back for the Vatican. Of course, he ropes Father Brown into it at one point, or maybe Father Brown gets entangled into it all on his own (as he is wont to do) and before you know it, artifacts are getting stolen (again), people are having to save each other (again), and the police really should just sit this one out and let the professionals handle it.

I'm also very intrigued by this idea that someone floated online where the roles are reversed – Flambeau as the priest, likely cynical and jaded from what he's seen in the war, who's constantly having a crisis of faith even as he ministers to his flock. Things only get more complicated when a thief announces his desire to steal a religious artifact, and Flambeau can't decide what's the most irritating – the fact that the local constabulary believe he must be involved because of his mysterious past, the village practically falling in love with the “Robin Hood” thief overnight, or that the thief seems hell-bent on restoring Flambeau's faith in God, even if he has to steal half a church to do it...

And you know, there's always murder. Can't go wrong with that! Could be one of those country house set-ups where there's locled rooms and people climbing out of windows (let's face it, Flambeau), or getting snowed in at some posh hotel, or maybe a murder on a train because those are always fun. Throw in a few exiled nobility, or mysterious government agents, or even a rival master thief or figure from someone's past and you have a recipe for a grand old time.

Penny Dreadful (TV)
Mediums: Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Ethan Chandler/Sir Malcolm Murray (Penny Dreadful)

As much as I loved Ethan and Vanessa together, I was always intrigued by the relationship between Malcolm and Ethan. It seemed like Malcolm was less close to Ethan than his other "children" (maybe because Ethan was like him) . And then season 3 hit and all of a sudden Malcolm's mission was getting Ethan back and we had daddy issues all over the place with a biological father and a werewolf father and Malcolm shooting Ethan's bio dad to save him in a church and I started going, wow, that escalated quickly (the unofficial motto of Penny Dreadful). And I'm a sucker for people coming together because of grief over a mutual loved one - and wow, do Malcolm and Ethan have a lot to grieve over. I love that basically, the two of them decided "we're done running from our problems so we'll just dwell in them instead."

DNWs: No animal harm, extreme underage, body fluids (blood is fine), focus on unrequested pairings involving nominated characters (mentions of past canon relationships are fine and I'm good with Ethan/Vanessa), permanent nominated character death (transformations/resurrections are fine). Also, please no mention of events in the official comic set after the show.

Prompts:

There's a lot of monsters out there that they could still run into. After all, the penny dreadful field was full of creatures that never made it to the show – Spring Heeled Jack would be a prime candidate to menace the streets, or perhaps there's more than one “resurrection man” digging up corpses. And of course, gothic novels would be fitting too – you can't tell me that Ethan's religious connections wouldn't be interesting if run up against a certain Monk while he and Malcolm trip around Europe.

Or hey, good old-fashioned murder mystery where they're called in to investigate a series of gruesome deaths only to run into another genre entirely. After all, there's a lot of detectives out there they can cross paths with or even some original ones that are suspiciously reminiscent of more than a few characters (public domain is everyone's best friend).

I'd also be down for some sort of undercover work – maybe Malcolm has Ethan pose as his son for some sort of case and while it starts out easy enough, things get complicated because Malcolm really does not have a good track record with parenting (if you want to throw in his whole weird thing with Vanessa or just make the fact that the Penny Dreadful family was one big psychosexual incest party, I'm down for that too.) But you know, they still have a job to complete, a case to solve, and at least one body to stumble over and probably be accused of murdering...

XCOM (2012 Reboot Series)
Mediums: Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • John "Central" Bradford/Male Commander (XCOM 2012 Reboot Series)

I really do love these two and their utter devotion to each other. I mean, Bradford's loyalty is so obvious it could be seen from space – you don't spend that many years looking for your commander, shrug off a bullet to your shoulder, and then promptly abdicate the leadership of your organization to a guy basically out of brain surgery without having deep faith and complete trust in him. But I like to think the Commander sticks around, not just because the message of “save humanity and destroy ADVENT and win the day” is so strong, but also because Bradford is believing in him, willing to sacrifice everything to save him, and how could he not live up to what Bradford thinks he is?

DNWs: No animal harm, extreme underage, body fluids (blood is fine), focus on unrequested pairings involving nominated characters (mentions of past canon relationships are fine), permanent nominated character death (transformations/resurrections are fine).

Prompts:

Mission fic! There are so many of types to choose from and I love them all. But for starters, how about a heist – maybe there's a piece of ADVENT tech that someone's gotten a hold of and they need both Bradford and the Commander's expertise to get out. Maybe only they can recognize it, or you know, all those propaganda posters turned out to be a bad idea when you're trying to run infiltration missions...

Speaking of which, some good old-fahioned “pretending to be partners” might be kind of fun. We know ADVENT was experimenting with creepy suburban simulations, per that last mission, so what if they actually succeeded and created some weird gated neighborhood that our heroes have to investigate. Maybe it turns out to be a trap, maybe it turns out that the heroes knew it was a trap, maybe there's a trap behind that trap, and before you know it, alliances are just all over the damn place with no one sure of who's on whose side.

Or kidnapping followed by a search and rescue op is always fun for maximum angst. Maybe it's a few recruits, or some civilians taken for mysterious reasons, or maybe even Bradford or the Commander himself. Perhaps ADVENT's trying to regroup for a second wave of attacks and they're not going to let the Commander go without a fight or they've realized that the true heart and soul of XCOM was Bradford all along and now it's the Commander's turn to track him down and bring him home.

CLAIMED! [ includes canon consumption tips]

PH 13 (comic, fic) - 終ノ空 remake | Tsui no Sora Remake, A Girl Corrupted by the Internet is the Summoned Hero?!, Tsukihime (Visual Novel & Anime)

Request 1 by Tulip
終ノ空 remake | Tsui no Sora Remake
Mediums: Medium - Comic, Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Wakatsuki Kotomi/Yokoyama Yasuko (Tsui no Sora Remake)
  • Oyonashi Ayana & Yokoyama Yasuko (Tsui no Sora Remake)
  • Otonashi Ayana/Yokoyama Yasuko (Tsui no Sora Remake)
  • Yokoyama Kiyoshi & Yokoyama Yasuko (Tsui no Sora Remake)
  • Yokoyama Kiyoshi/Yokoyama Yasuko (Tsui no Sora Remake)
  • Solo: Yokoyama Yasuko (Tsui no Sora Remake)

I am, pretty broadly, a fan of Yasuko being her facades-laden manipulative ruthless selfish intensely-caring-underneath-it-all self; getting to see more of that is likely to be fun regardless of investigation-specifics, and she is conveniently sufficiently investigation-inclined in canon that it's likely to fit in well! But, with that said, specific prompts for the investigation include:

- Murder mysteries could be fun, investigations of unusual people or events a bit like what she does in canon could be fun, trying to resolve thefts or kidnappings or suchlike could be fun, et cetera. (My interests here mostly are running in the Outsider Detective direction as opposed to the Insider Detective direction, but pretty broad within Outsider Detective narrative space, to put it in the terms of this excellent post: https://www.tumblr.com/malcolmschmitz/769322016017891328/the-insider-and-outsider-detective)
- It could be fun to see Yasuko trying to figure out more about the Lovecraftian stuff she only ever very limitedly manages to grasp in canon.
- It could be fun seeing someone else trying to investigate and figure things out about Yasuko herself, with all the layers of crime and deception she's got built around her life.

Treats are welcome!

A Girl Corrupted by the Internet is the Summoned Hero?!
Mediums: Medium - Comic, Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Satan Lucifuge Asmodei Ahriman Moloch Melkor Leviathan/Yugano Yuuki (Girl Intercorrupted)
  • The Wicked Emperor & Yugano Yuuki (Girl Intercorrupted)
  • Solo: Yugano Yuuki (Girl Intercorrupted)

In canon, we never get to see all that much of how Yuuki operates when she's in a position of relative independence; she's mostly on the Wicked Emperor's rails from start to finish. But, post-canon, that's likely to change! And it seems likely to be fun seeing what sorts of investigations Yuuki might get caught up in as part of her empress-skill-building tour, with the relatively-greater independence she's likely to have at that point. Specific prompts include:

- Yuuki and the Wicked Emperor working together as peers, later in her career, to try to solve some mysterious logistics-failure or out-of-context threat causing problems for the Wicked Empire
- Yuuki, working on her own or with help from Satan, trying to solve a murder or kidnapping or suchlike that's causing problems for her during one of her learning-to-do-politics-somewhat-independently postings
- A partially-informed outsider trying to figure out What is even Happening at the top of the Wicked Empire's hierarchy, in the context of Yuuki's probably-very-weird-if-one-looks-at-it-with-partial-information arrival and ascent there.

Treats are welcome!

Tsukihime (Visual Novel & Anime)
Mediums: Medium - Comic, Medium - Fanfic

Relationships:

  • Kohaku/Tohno Akiha (Tsukihime)
  • Solo: Kohaku (Tsukihime)
  • Tohno Akiha & Tohno Shiki (Tsukihime)
  • Ciel & Noel (Tsukihime)
  • Ciel/Noel (Tsukihime)

Tsukihime! Original and remake are both good; both have high-quality Women With Problems trying to untangle a horrible multi-layered mess of a mystery while also actively contributing layers of their own to the mystery at the same time. Lots to investigate, in other words! So, prompts:

- Kohaku trying to figure out what even is going on with the subsets of the vampire stuff she doesn't already know about
- Ciel and Noel trying to solve Dead Apostle-related cases together
- A peek into the corners of canon where Akiha learns the various things she knows-by-the-time-of-canon's-start about Kohaku's history and plans
- Akiha trying to learn what's going on in the parts of Shiki's life that he's reluctant to tell her about, either during or after canon

Treats are welcome!

Canon consumption tips, thanks to BFE's PH nonnies:
  • Tsui no Sora Remake: Visual Novel with an English version available. There are playthroughs on Youtube with about 14 hours of content.

  • Tsukihime: Visual Novel: Has an English version. Can take between 40 to 50 hours. There's playthroughs on Youtube.

  • Tsukihime: Anime (Shingetsutan Tsukihime): Doesn't seem to be on any streaming but there's a fansub, 12 episodes.

  • Tsui no Sora remake: Officially only out in Japanese, but there's an English fan translation. It's NSFW but the length of this YouTube playthrough seems about the right length with what's user-submitted to vndb. It's approx 15.5 hours. Expect psychological horror, gore, heavy emphasis on suicide. Graphic noncon is also plot-important and if it's similar to SubaHibi, very prevalent.
